Blue Mountains Getaways
64Blue Mountains Getaways
Blue Mountain getaways are a satisfying alternative to coastal holidays and an ideal Sydney getaways idea from around the beaches and estuaries. Finding solace away from the city is refreshing and liberating to say the least. If you are planning a holiday anytime in the future why not give consideration to a holiday with a difference.
The area west of Sydney sitting atop the Great Dividing Range is home to all sorts of people, artist, recluses, alternates and people who love the rural way of life and community spirit that prevails in the villagers along the Great Western Highway as it winds its way toward Bathurst and further yonder.

Interesting Things Around the Mountains
Taking the time to browse the local galleries provides an insight to the many brilliant and talented artists who reside in the villages on the mountain. Certainly the hand crafts, jewellery and other works incite wonder and amazement. It’s a pleasant change to modern machine manufactured articles which are often overpriced and lack integrity.
If anyone is feeling romantic the opportunity exists to visit a local boutique winery or take a country drive to any number of vineyards or cellars on a day trip. Driving in the country is so relaxing but always remember to be wise and drink responsibly when on an outing of such kinds.
Another great way to enjoy special time together is over local produce at some of the fine cafes and restaurants that reside in the area. Some of these local restaurants have world class menus with succulent mouth watering meals fit for anyone who dare to stretch their taste bud delights.. Good dining can be found in almost all the villages from the foot of the mountain to the top.

The Blue Mountains - A Different Pace of Life
The wonders of the country never cease to amaze me when on any Blue Mountains Getaways because the people are often times more relaxed than their hyped up city dwelling counterparts who are often anxious over much and having little patience or time to deal with the more important things in life, namely rest, relaxation and recreation.
Fair enough the city does have its benefits with the convenience of having almost everything you may need at your finger tips so to speak, well usually within a short distance from home at least but having miles of countryside around deals a whole new perspective on life. Waking to fresh mountain air in the morning alerts the senses and makes a great start to the day.
It’s here in the mountains that the warmth of family relations get nurtured more regularly with opportunities to enjoy the comfort of a warm fireplace in winter or to go bush walking on some of the trails or exploring amongst the forests and parks in the summer months.
Family activity contributes to a healthy and active life, which in turn helps everyone stay physically fit and mentally alert. Bushwalking in the Blue Mountains is a great activity for anyone to do as long as you remember to play it safe and not get lost or out of your depth into unfamiliar surrounds. There are numerous walks of all levels catering to all ages and abilities easily and readily accessable.

Places to Stay
The natural wonders of Jenolan Caves and the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area national parks is mind blowing. These areas have been drawings thousands of visitors every years for many years and will continue to do so for many more to come. If you haven’t visited yet make it a promise to do so, you never go away unimpressed. The natural beauty of these places is the jewel in the crown that highlights the very beauty of taking a Blue Mountain getaway.
Did you know that Jenolan Caves was the first open cave system in the world to be discovered?it may not be the biggest but it was the first. Right at the caves is the magnificent Tudor style Jenolan House where the architecture will take you back in time to when visiting here was indeed a long journey which would take much effort.
Built in the late 1800’s the 88room guest house provides
mountain lodging along with a three bedroom cottage as well as backpacker
accommodation. The caves are most spectacular especially under coloured lights.
Georg Mertens plays cello and entertains gracefully every fourth Saturday of
the month. This is known as the concert in the caves, now that is something different! check the video below.
Other accommodation you can choose while on your Blue Mountains Getaways include Hostels, Hotels and Motels as well as Bed and Breakfasts , luxury cottages, holiday apartments and house rentals.
